Device storage & permissions

What DaysRemain keeps on your phone and which permissions it uses.

Last updated: 17 October 2026

For the DaysRemain Android and iOS apps. Policy version: 2026-10-20.

Stored on this device

The app stores account-specific countdown caches, offline pending changes, public catalogue cache, locally saved photo cards, widget selections, appearance, country/setup choices, reminder preferences, personal checklists, collections, archive choices, important-person details, and memories on the device. Memory photos are stored as private app files. Earlier on-device future letters and Android and iOS authentication sessions use SecureStore in the platform’s protected storage. New future letters use the private account service and are fetched into memory only when opened, without a persistent offline letter cache. The app’s web preview uses browser storage and is not the production native storage environment.

Account library caches are separated by account identifier. Signing out cancels app reminders but may retain the account’s isolated local cache. Account deletion removes the current account’s cache and pending changes after server confirmation, with a visible warning if local cleanup fails. Device settings can remove other cached app data. On iOS, keychain data may survive uninstall.

Optional notifications

Notification permission is requested when you choose reminders, sharing alerts, or Android final-hours mode. Countdown reminders are local device notifications; sharing invitations use the push service described in the privacy policy. You can use countdowns without notifications. Choose milestone offsets, custom times, and quiet hours in a countdown’s reminder settings. Quiet-hours alerts move earlier. The nearest 50 countdown alerts are scheduled; opening the app refreshes annual dates. Disable reminders in the countdown or revoke permission in device settings. Titles may appear on the lock screen.

Photos and home-screen widgets

Choose a photo opens the system image picker; it does not grant general background access to your photo library. Selected images are processed locally and may be kept in local card drafts. Delete a saved card in Creations to remove its local photo. Exporting shares a PNG only to a destination you select. No camera, microphone, contacts, or precise-location access is requested. Country suggestions use locale and timezone settings. Fonts and included artwork are bundled.

There are no advertising or analytics SDKs in the current native source. New SDKs or data uses require review and updated disclosures before release.

Widgets keep a local snapshot for the app’s home-screen extension. Choose what is visible carefully; titles and dates can be read on the home screen. Clear widget content from Creations or remove the widget using your device. Account deletion attempts to clear the current account’s local cards and widget content as well as its library cache. Separately saved images, guest creations, and copies on other devices remain separate.

Account removal

Use You → Delete account & data to remove the cloud account and associated library. Local device settings alone do not remove cloud data. Other devices, browser dashboards, downloaded copies, and guest website links remain separate. Contact info@velnovaapp.com for help.
